We believe that student's elective choices should be virtually unlimited!
Students can pick from a wide variety of online courses through our various platforms to fulfil their elective requirements. Combined, these platforms offer over 200 elective courses that our students can take to supplement their core curriculum and explore the world around them!
Listed below is a complete course catalog of elective courses available through our various platforms. Scroll through and look for courses that may interest you! Each of our elective platforms also offer core curriculum classes, and may be used in place of college courses or Williamsburg academy, though program adjustments may be required. Feel free to explore all the opportunities that Empowerment Academy has to offer! An empowerment counselor can help you recognize which courses will work best for you.
Work with your empowerment counselor or click HERE to determine how many electives you can take in your chosen program. Some BYUIS electives are more cost-effective, and a slightly smaller workload. These courses are marked with asterisks (**) and students may choose to take two of these courses to fill one elective slot (optional, students should plan to include an extra 3-5 hrs/per week in their schedules for these extra courses).

If an elective course requires additional expenses outside of school (such as a camera for photography, or a bowling alley pass for bowling), and the expenses do not fit within the elective budget, these expenses can be paid for by EAAZ using extracurricular/summer funding.

All students, especially students on Full Time College Tracks, are highly encouraged to take leadership electives throughout their time at Empowerment Academy. These courses can be taken from Williamsburg or LSA. They are not required, but we know that these courses can be a major positive influence in the life of any student!

BYU-IS Courses are self-paced and require students to be self motivated and stay on top of their own schedules. An EAAZ Mentor may help the student to create a pacing guide for their course, but it is the student's responsibility to stay on track.
Many BYU-IS Electives are created for any grade level 6-12; many others are designed for middle school or high school only. Some courses are more cost effective and a smaller workload; students may choose to take 2 of these courses to fill one elective slot (optional, student can still choose to only take one). These courses are marked with asterisks (**) and must be selected together.
BYU-IS is affiliated with the church school BYU, but does not teach any religious material in their MS/HS courses. Personal ideals and beliefs may be discussed in student discussion forums, etc. Learn More Here
