Empowerment Academy offers many curriculum opportunities to our students, helping them to find their passion and achieve their goals. By working with a counsellor and developing their own personal educational experience, every student can learn and grow in a way that fits their individual needs. Together, we can hand-pick a curriculum to help each student find success!
All students have the opportunity to take college level courses as early as 6th grade! Students will start by taking Universal Learner courses from ASU. These are college level courses, but students may choose whether or not to include the completed course on their college transcripts, completely removing the risk of a bad grade on their permanent record! Limited intro-level ULC courses are available, so after 8-12 successful courses, students will transfer their work to a community college.
Community college classes are available online and in person (see in-person info below), and are only available to high school students, age 14+. Eastern Arizona College (EAC) is our main provider of online community college courses. EAC and other community colleges offer many more classes than ASU-ULC, along with associate's degrees and professional certificates. Unlike the ASU courses, the grades from these courses are always included on the student's permanent college transcript.
EAAZ has partnered with Eastern Arizona College to provide our students with all of their general education credits (AGEC - 35 credits) online. Incoming freshman on a full time college track have the ability to earn a complete associate's degree (64 credits) by their senior year! After completing the AGEC requirements, students may continue working towards their degree online, or transfer to in-person college courses. Professional Cert. programs are also available and encouraged.
Available to Juniors and Seniors upon completion of their AGEC Certificate. Students will have the option to transfer to a community college near their home to start taking in-person classes. Doing this, they will be able to pursue any degree or professional certificate that they may be interested in. They may also choose explore the many career fields available to them by taking college level elective classes; finding their passion while progressing towards their AGEC associate's degree!
Online classes with live teachers are available each week for many courses, providing a social and structured environment to promote student learning and success. Live online options are available through Williamsburg Academy and ASU Prep. Williamsburg courses have multiple live classes per week, with some work done outside of class. ASU Prep courses are mostly done independently, through interactive, online programs, and have one optional live class per week.
Self-paced classes provide students with the ultimate flexibility! These courses are completely online and give students the ability to put in time for school whenever they want to, and work around an ever changing schedule! Self-paced online classes are available through Williamsburg Academy and BYU-IS.
If you can dream it, you can do it! Elective Courses are available on many different platforms, providing students the opportunity to study anything that peaks their interest. As part of our parent's choice platform, students have the opportunity to learn many different skills and concepts that a regular school could never provide, including personal finance and other life skills. Elective platforms include Williamsburg Academy, ASU Prep, BYU-IS, and LSA. View our elective course catalog HERE.
This program is available to Seniors, giving them the opportunity to pursue a professional certification in lieu of some elective courses. This empowers students to be able to enter the workforce with a well-paid job immediately after high school. Students have infinitely many options in this program! Some popular options are listed HERE, though it's not a comprehensive list. Students may choose to submit any training program for approval, and work towards pursuing their dream career!
Highly recommended for Seniors, any student on the full-time college track can have the opportunity to get on a coaching call every other week with a personal mentor from LSA. These mentors are PhD graduates from ASU, and are focused on personal empowerment for the student to help achieve their greatest potential! Mentors help students to set and achieve goals, along with providing assistance on resumes and job applications when needed and working with parents to support each student! Learn More
Only students on the "Full-Time College Track" or in years 3/4 of the "Accelerated College Track" are eligible to participate in the one-on-one PhD mentor coaching calls provided by LSA. Visit the All Tracks page to learn more about specific tracks.
If a student completes their Associates degree before their senior year, and is not interested in additional community college courses or professional certificates, they may start working towards their Bachelor's degree through the University of the People, a 100% online accredited university. These classes are asynchronous, which means they are offered year-round and do not align with the standard school year. All students on the Accelerated College Track will take these courses Years 3 and 4.
These opportunities are available to every student, regardless of grade level or curriculum choice. These Enrichment Add-Ons include extracurricular and summer funding; this funding can be used instead on program additions, or needed items for school or extracurriculars. If a student is not interested in summer activities, this funding can be used as an additional $50/mo for extracurriculars.
